On second day of Raya (02/10/08), I went to a temple in Rantau, Seremban, called Sri Sivasanggara Valmuni Vannamuni.
The main attraction I heard about the temple, other than the huge baby Sivan statue in sleeping position is that there is a Dr.Munisvaran. He has stethoscopes in both his hands. It is said that when anyone with any kind of sickness prays to him, they will be cured.
For more information or map, visit http://www.geocities.com/vaalmuni/.
To view the photos i snapped in the temple, view my photo album titled "Sri SivaSanggara Vaalmuni" (http://www.gnsmoments.com/templates/1044/index.asp?type=photolist&id=2433).
There is 1 big air-conditioned room. The main pooja will be held in there. It was a totally different experience during the pooja. The aiyar actually ask us all to follow and sing along with him all the mantras. he will sing 1 line, then ask us to sing. Then he was like giving a little speech with advice on how to treat elders n stuff like that.
Those who do not have children will also visit and pray to Amman there and immediately following year they will have baby. One of the priest recognised we were first time visitor and he brought us around the temple and each god statue there had a story. He was telling many things. Then we saw 2 buses of people coming and he repeated the "tour" for them.
One person he proudly introduced to us was the designer of the new large gold Murugan in Batu Caves. The same person is there, building a large Vinayagar for this temple. The Kumbabishegam, as what the proest told us is on the 1st January 2009.
I really can't describe much in words. It is a must visit temple :-)
